  • Overcast vs. Billings Mutual Insurance Company, 11 S. W. 3d 62 (Mo. banc 2000) one million dollar judgment for Plaintiff insured wrongly accused of arson by his insurance company; case broadened the basis for defamation claims;

  • Johnson vs. Allstate Indemnity Company, 278 S. W. 3d 228 (Mo. App. E.D. 2009) one million five hundred thousand dollar judgment for Plaintiff insured wrongly accused of misrepresentation by his insurance company; case also concerned preserving the trial court record for appellate review;

  • Herd vs. American Security Insurance Company, 501 F. Supp.2d 1240 (W. D. Mo. 2007) involving application of Missouri insurance statutes to lender placed insurance policies;

  • Porter vs. Shelter Mutual Insurance Company, 242 S. W. 3d. 385 (Mo. App. W.D. 2007) concerning insurance policy interpretation;

  • Stickler vs. Foremost Signature Insurance Company, 150 S. W. 3d 314 (Mo. App. S. D. 2004) re-stating and broadening insurance law relating to insurance policy cancellation and renewal;

  • Parsons v. Amica Mutual Insurance Company, WL 5362262 (W. D. Mo. 2012) involving the obligations of an insured in presenting an insurance claim to the insurance company;

  • Kurz v Progressive Casualty Insurance Company, U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, Case No. 12-03050-CV-S-JTM (2012) involving whether an employee of an insurance company can be separately sued for defamation for statements made in the company denial letter;

  • Rainey v Standard Guaranty Insurance Company and Nationstar Mortgage LLC, U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, Case No. 20-CV-03112-SRB (2020) [currently on appeal] involving insurance and mortgage company’s liability for fire loss claims under multiple insurance policies;

  • Allstate Vehicle and Property Insurance Company v Adams, U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, Southwestern Division, Case No. 3:15-CV-05121-BCW (2018) $357,000 jury trial verdict for partial fire loss including vexatious penalties and attorneys’ fees of $103,000;

  • In the Estate of Earl Daniel Rainey, Jr., Missouri Court of Appeals for the Southern District, Case No., SD36016 (2020) involving approval of probate court settlement with forced placed insurance company;

  • Mackie v John Doe, Trustee, Circuit Court of Greene County, Case No. 2031-CC00445 (2020) wrongful death settlement involving landlord’s alleged failure to install smoke alarms in rental home. Intoxicated tenant died of smoke inhalation while trying to escape home.
